HostGator Has Making PHP5 As Default

All HostGator hosting plan is now with PHP5. The older version of PHP4, it is no longer supported by HostgGator in shared hosting. If you check the proportion hosting specifications, you will notice that PHP 5 is the only option.

Right now, I am using PHP version 5.2.6. I have confirm twice with Hostgator Cpanel. This shows that the old hosting servers (so far with php4) has already upgraded to PHP5 as well.

That means your PHP5 is a default. If you have a custom installation of PHP scripts, make sure they are supported in PHP5 specification.

In addition, there is some advice from me as an alternative way for you by using the .htaccess editing to allow PHP5.
